All bosses in Spyro Year of the Dragon become easier after a few deaths because the game is directed to unless there was an option to turn that off, not sure how many other games actually do that now or even in the ps1 era.?

Give Skylanders a go. What do you have to lose?? If you don't like it, agree to disagree on your preference for Spyro, he's most likely looking at it from the perspective of someone who hasn't played it and played other, newer titles before this. The fact is, he probably prefers the gameplay of Skylanders whilst you prefer games like Spyro, everyone to their own really.

That's part of what made it so great. You can get away with things if you don't have to worry about the small details. And with less work for the animators that means more work is put into actually story telling which is what makes older games still worth their value into todays modern? age.
